Linda and Denny McLane were two volunteers honored at the annual banquet. They hold a weekly Bible study for the residents. Linda does resident shopping on a weekly basis.
On April 19, the community held its annual volunteer banquet, recognizing individuals who selflessly donated their time and talents to help meet the needs of PMMA residents over the past 12 months.
The theme for this year’s event was “Being a Blessing,” one that Executive Director Jane Hull feels was especially appropriate given the role volunteers play in the community’s ability to fulfill PMMA’s mission of providing quality senior services guided by Christian values.

“Our volunteers are a true Godsend,” said Hull. “Without them, and their commitment to those we serve, our community would not be the same.”
Those in attendance at the event, which was held during National Volunteer Week, were treated to a gourmet dinner, remarks from members of the community’s staff and a special performance by guitarist and singer Stormy Bennett.
“It was a great evening for us to celebrate them, say thank you and recognize them for the time they give to PMMA,” said Volunteer Coordinator Teresa Pinkley.
The centerpiece of the evening was an awards presentation. Janice Quinton was named 2018 Hospice Volunteer of the Year and Jo Rustemeyer was honored as the 2018 Volunteer of the Year for Presbyterian Manor, with each receiving a commemorative plaque.
As the event concluded, everyone in attendance was given a certificate of appreciation and a small PMMA watering can which held potting soil and flower seeds representing the lives they had nurtured.
